About Me

I have always been something of a wanderer, but since 2022 I have upped the ante a bit and given up having a permanent home and spend most of my time traveling and shooting. When I need a rest, I have been retreating to Ecuador, but am now considering a shift away from South America and more toward Africa and southern Europe. Sitll not sure.

I am mostly a Canon shooter, but I have dabbled a bit with Lumix. When you have as much Canon glass as I do, it is hard to move away from the brand.

For those of you who always seem to want more personal info, I am 60-something, retired from a combination nursing and healthcare IT career that included web design and some time as a database administrator. Not a common combination. In 2022 I quit working, hiked the PCT, and left the US. There is a good chance I will not return.

Looking for Travel Partners

I do most of my traveling alone, not because I want to, but because, despite most people saying they love to travel, very few actually travel much. I am always looking for a travel/photography partner for some or all of my travels. You don’t need to be a photographer, but that would be nice too. If you are not a photographer, it is essential to understand that traveling with a photographer is a bit different. I tend to travel slowly. I might wait at a certain spot for an hour or two until the light is just right. I might wait for something to happen, and sometimes it never does. Patience is a must. I am often up before sunrise and out shooting until after sunset. The middle of the day? That depends.
